And provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:3 NIV

Precious Gems At Adam's State College

Pastor Jim Moon started the "Friday Night Home Cooked Meals" specifically designed for college students (Adam's State College in Alamosa) who would like a warm and inviting place to go and get home cooked food.  Members of our church have students over on Friday evening at 6:30 to enjoy good food and fun times.  Some kids bring their musical instruments, others bring games.  They eat and relax, laugh, and enjoy each others company.  The hosts enjoy being able to shower the young people with love, food, and a cozy home for a few hours.  One student commented that she looks forward to every Friday now.  Others agreed. We are even recognizing some of them around town now. It has been a fun experience getting to know these kids.  Thanks Pastor Moon for the great idea! These people, all of them, are truly precious gems of God!

  1. I love it that you are doing this ministry. I am going to pass on the idea to our pastor. Can you send me details of how you got the kids? How did you advertise and how do you know about how many you are going to have every time?

  2. Really, it is the Lord's working through Dale and Murleen Goodrich who made it possible for this to happen. Their quiet and unassuming example of inviting collegiate kids home to their house for dinner was the inspiration behind this ministry. Thanks Dale and Murleen!
